Although the KT142C chip has a total internal memory of 512KBytes, part of it is used for firmware storage, and another portion is reserved for system memory management. The remaining space—about 320KBytes—is available for the user to replace and store custom voice data. Unfortunately, there isn't any additional free space to expand within the chip itself.

If 320KBytes is not sufficient for your application, the only option is to choose a design with external Flash memory. In this case, the available voice storage capacity depends entirely on the size of the external Flash chip you use.
